A one-time minority co-production call to support Ukrainian-Dutch films is open!

Oct 13, 2025

The Netherlands Film Fund has launched a one-time call to support Dutch minority co-productions involving Ukrainian filmmakers. This exceptional initiative is part of a broader effort to sustain artistic collaboration and solidarity in the face of ongoing geopolitical challenges.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to Dutch minority co-producers working on projects that involve a Ukrainian director and/or screenwriter, as well as a Ukrainian producer. The call supports the realisation of:

  • Feature films
  • Feature-length animated films
  • Documentaries

What is the amount of the grants?

  • Up to €200,000 for (animated) feature films
  • Up to €100,000 for (animated) documentaries

How are projects selected?

Projects must demonstrate strong artistic and substantive quality, with substantial creative and technical input from Dutch film professionals.

Where does the initiative come from?

This initiative follows previous support schemes launched by the Dutch government for artists displaced by the Russian aggression. In September 2025, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science allocated additional funding to reinforce these efforts through international co-productions.

The Netherlands Film Fund is one of the 19 European public bodies who are contributing to the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films, and has also organised several support actions dedicated to the Ukrainian film community.
