SYNOPSIS

Yura, working at a local nature museum, looking for a rare species, witnesses an arson in the forest. He brings the photos to a local newspaper and gets a job there. With his new profession it dawns on him that the reality around him is a far cry from what is written in the newspaper.

    THE DIRECTOR

    Valentyn Vasyanovych
    Roman Bondarchuk is a graduate of the Kyiv State University of Theatre, Cinema and Television. He serves as artistic director and sits on the Selection Committee of Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko Prize (2019), he is also a member of the Ukrainian Academy Award Selection Committee (Oscars) since 2019. His filmography includes work on feature films, short films, documentaries, and music videos. His first feature-length documentary film, Ukrainian Sheriffs, received the Special Jury Prize at IDFA in 2015 and was selected as the Ukrainian submission to the 89th Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign-language Film. His second documentary work, Dixie Land (2016), premiered at the Full Frame Film Festival (USA), and received the Golden Duke Award for best Ukrainian Film at the Odesa International Film Festival. Roman Bondarchuk’s fiction debut, Volcano (2018), has won 12 international awards and was selected for screening by more than 50 festivals worldwide.
